Thank you sooooo-so much for doing this and for listing my first Substack serial in your Library! 🥰 This is such an important thing while readers (and we) can’t search by genre and length yet. You’re the best!!!
Hey!! Great question. We chose speculative fiction as a way to encapsulate several genres into one. Basically anything having to do with a premise that involves fictional worlds or magical properties, but yes, it includes science fiction, supernatural horror, and fantasy mostly. Submissions can then be labeled with sub categories for more specific genre identification. I think filtering by tags can narrow down on science fiction, but I’m ashamed to say I haven’t tested that yet. We’re definitely open to feedback if there is a cleaner way to categorize it. Thanks for showing interest!
Thanks so much for including my work. I love what The Library is doing. It is so helpful for finding creative writing to read on Substack.

It's on my list to get to over Xmas. I have a few long long plane journeys ahead and The Library so going to be out to much use 🤩
Wooot! Oh yeah, who needs a thick book to huck through security and everywhere on a trip when we have the Library now!! 🤩
🙌🙌
Stoked to see Garrett! One of the most talented writers I've ever met.
Interesting recommendations but what in blue blazes is 'speculative' fiction? Do you mean science-fiction?
