Tales of the Godswood | Robin George | Fantasy Satire (NA) (I) (F)
A war has broken out between the human nation of Rundell and the Sidhe nation of Tir Arduan Pinethra. Having lived peacefully beside each other for nearly a thousand years following the cataclysmic day of "Odin's Wrath," a series of wildly unfortunate events escalated into a war. Learn why this war began, why Odin was so angry, and how sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology. Follow the stories of an anti-social necromancer and her trickster side-kick, an aging adventurer and his fairy companion, a tax collector who is really good at his job and the two homeless kids he blackmails into helping him - and more. These stories are a prelude to a future novel called "When Gods Dream" that should be done in 2024.
Children of Shadows | Harvey Hamer | sci-fi/magical realism | (NA) (C) (F)
A Man wakes up in his car on a quiet country lane, with no memory of his life before last night. He has awoken from a dream, of a teenage boy in a night-time field, cold and afraid as other children with pale skin and ragged gowns lumber towards him with arms outstretched. The boy was saved by a glowing girl who passed her light onto him. The Man knows he must find the one in his dream, but first, he wants to know who he was before, and why he is the only living creature in sight... It's a story that I told in its first form when I was ten and has been ten years in the works, an amalgamation of my life experiences and love of sci-fi and fantasy franchises.
